PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Marissa Lyle has been named the next head coach of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's golf team, announced Wednesday by Director of Athletics and Recreation Sam Koenig.

"We are excited to welcome Marissa Lyle as the next head women's golf coach at UW-Platteville," said Koenig. "Marissa has demonstrated a passion for developing student-athletes and her enthusiasm for building meaningful relationships makes her an outstanding fit for our program. She will create an environment where our golfers can thrive academically, athletically, and personally. We are thrilled about Marissa leading this program!"

Lyle is no stranger to the UW-Platteville campus as she enters her third season as assistant coach of the women's basketball team, a program that is fresh off its first ever trip to the NCAA DIII Tournament.

"I'm incredibly exited for the opportunity to lead the women's golf program and continue making a positive impact on the lives of our student-athletes," said Lyle. "I look forward to building strong relationships and helping our student-athletes excel in the classroom, community, and on the course."

A two-sport college athlete herself, Lyle brings over six years of coaching experience at the NCAA Division III level to the golf program after spending an additional three years coaching at the high school and AAU levels. She will continue in her assistant women's basketball coach role while expanding her reach to serving the women's golf team and the development of its student-athletes.

Lyle has been immersed in all aspects of running successful collegiate athletic programs, including player development, recruitment, travel, academic progress monitoring, and scouting and will work closely in her new role with retired Pioneers head coach, and current swing coach, Pete Reif.

No stranger to the WIAC or the state of Wisconsin, Lyle came to UW-Platteville after spending two seasons as assistant women's basketball coach at UW-Stevens Point. She was also an intern for the UW-Whitewater women's basketball team for one season and a graduate assistant coach at Alverno College.

The Waukesha, Wisconsin native earned an associate degree in arts and sciences from UW-Waukesha, a bachelor's degree from UW-Green Bay, and a master's degree in education from UW-Whitewater.
