PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Senior Melissa Dietz of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team was named to 2026 College Sport Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American Second Team in June.

Dietz, who is majoring in health and human performance, is the fourth player in program history to earn Academic All-American honors, and the first since Rachel Plautz in 2022.

The Reedsburg native collected several awards following her standout senior season, including NFCA First Team All-American and WIAC Position Player of the Year. Dietz paced the WIAC in a multitude of offensive categories, including batting average (.532), home runs (9), slugging percentage (.910), and on-base percentage (.603). She also finished inside the top five in hits (59), doubles (13), and RBI (39).

After the 2026 season, Dietz currently holds the WIAC record for career batting average (.511) and her career 46 doubles is a program mark. The third baseman sits second in the Pioneers record books in career hits (166), RBI (108), and home runs (23) while holding the top two single-season batting averages in program history.
