PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Senior
Kierney McDonald of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American Third Team on Wednesday afternoon.
It's the second consecutive All-American finish for McDonald, who took home AVCA Honorable Mention recognition following the 2024 campaign. The selection adds to the impressive amount of postseason awards for the Pioneers middle blocker, who was named First Team All-Region and First Team All-WIAC earlier this month.
McDonald paced UW-Platteville in several categories this season, including kills (3.27) and blocks (1.12) per set on a .304 hitting percentage. All three of those marks ranked inside the top five in the WIAC. The senior surpassed 1,000 career kills late in the season and put together several strong performances, including 17 kills (.556 hitting percentage) and six total blocks in the Pioneers upset sweep over No. 4 UW-Whitewater on October 15.
McDonald wraps up her career and etches her name in the Pioneers record book in several places, including the fourth-best career hitting percentage (.296) in program history. The Taylor Ridge, Illinois native's 82 career solo blocks is fifth-most all-time and her 299 block assists ranks sixth. In total, McDonald's 381 career blocks are sixth-best in UW-Platteville history.
