PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Four members of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville volleyball team earned WIAC postseason recognition on Thursday, highlighted by All-WIAC selections
Kierney McDonald and
Brooklyn Radecke.
Gracie Gibbens was tabbed Honorable Mention, while
Kelsey Ewert picked up All-Sportsmanship honors.
Kierney McDonald (First Team)
For the fourth time in her career, McDonald earns WIAC postseason honors, including her third First Team selection. Across her 27 starts, McDonald averaged a team-high 3.27 kills and 1.12 blocks per set, both top five marks in the conference this season. The senior recorded a career-best .304 hitting percentage, which was tied for third highest in the WIAC, and surpassed 1,000 career kills late in the year. McDonald put together several impressive performances over the course of the season, including 17 kills and six total blocks on a .556 hitting percentage in a sweep of No. 4 UW-Whitewater on October 15.
Brooklyn Radecke (First Team)
Radecke put together another strong season to earn the first All-WIAC selection of her career. The sophomore started all 30 matches and was second on UW-Platteville with 2.78 kills and 2.89 digs per set. Radecke recorded 11 double-doubles this season, and tallied a season-high 17 kills in a five-set win over UW-La Crosse on September 17. She also finished third on the team with 35 service aces and hit .167 for the year.
Gracie Gibbens (Honorable Mention)
Gibbens collects Honorable Mention honors for the first time after averaging a team-high 5.90 assists per set. The senior ranked fifth in the conference in that category across her 27 matches played. Gibbens added 19 total kills on a .217 hitting percentage from the setter position along with 17 service aces. The Katy, Texas native averaged 1.66 digs per set, fifth-best on the Pioneers. Gibbens surpassed double-digit assists in 22 matches, including a season-high 36 in a sweep of Monmouth on October 25.
Kelsey Ewert (All-Sportsmanship)
Ewert was the Pioneers representative on the All-Sportsmanship team following a season that saw her play in all 30 matches as the team's libero. Ewert led the team with 3.79 digs per set, eighth-most in the WIAC, while also recording a team-high 41 service aces. The senior reached double-digit digs in 21 matches, including a career-high 27 against Concordia Wisconsin on September 13.
