Pioneers Shutout By Tartans Friday

Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Limited scoring opportunities doomed the University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team (0-1-1) on Friday night in a 2-0 loss to Carnegie Mellon (1-0-1) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The Pioneers were held to just four total shots in the match, with none of the tries finishing on frame. Sophomore Roberto Salinas recorded two of the three shots, while freshman Bryker Langfald tallied one off the bench and junior Aiden Hatleberg had a chance late in the contest.

The Tartans recorded one goal in each half, the first coming in the 23rd minute, which proved to be the game's winner. The insurance goal came in the 69th minute, as Carnegie Mellon made the most of its 10 total shots and three shots on goal.

Junior Theodore Utz got the start in goal for the Pioneers and finished with one save on three shots faced.

UW-Platteville will have a day off before facing Mount Union at 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon from Alliance, Ohio.
