PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team (3-2-1) scored first but ultimately fell 2-1 to Loras (5-1-0) inside Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium on Wednesday night.
Sophomore
Christian Gallt made it 1-0 in favor of the Pioneers in the 23rd minute after making a strong run on a corner kick from sophomore
Roberto Salinas and heading in a goal. The goal was the first of Gallt's career, while Salinas tallied an assist for the second consecutive game.
The Duhawks tied the game in the 30th minute on a free kick, then took the lead with a goal in the 43rd minute of the first half.
UW-Platteville was unable to generate much offense over the rest of the contest, finishing with just two shots in the second half compared to six for Loras. Both shots were on goal, but the attempts from junior
Chase Dwinal and sophomore
Matthew Thiessen were turned aside.
In total, Loras outshot the Pioneers 10-5, but each team was even in chances on goal with four. Sophomore goalkeeper
Connor Waite bounced back after allowing two first half goals to make two saves in the second half to keep the game within one for UW-Platteville.
Gallt was the lone Pioneer with multiple shot attempts, while junior
Westley Hankes had the team's other shot on goal.
UW-Platteville travels to Indianola, Iowa on Saturday to face Simpson at 5 p.m.
