Massa Named D3baseball.com and ABCA/Rawlings All-American

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Sophomore Anthony Massa of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville baseball team earned All-America Third Team honors by ABCA/Rawlings and D3baseball.com, the organizations announced Thursday.

Massa becomes just the second Pioneer in program history to earn All-American honors, joining Jonathan Kelso (2021). He was also the lone representative from the WIAC on the ABCA/Rawlings All-America teams and just one of two on the D3baseball.com teams, joining UW-Whitewater's Gradin Taschner's Fourth Team selection.

Named Region 9 Position Player of the Year by both organizations earlier this week, Massa rewrote UW-Platteville's single-season record book during an outstanding season, breaking records in hits, home runs, total bases, runs batted in, and slugging percentage. The third baseman led the WIAC with a .799 slugging percentage, 1.304 OPS, 71 hits, 58 RBI and 15 home runs, while ranking second with a .433 batting average, third with 54 runs scored and fourth with a .505 on-base percentage. Massa had a 19-game hitting streak to start the season and produced a season-high four hits against Illinois College on March 20 and Edgewood University (Wis.) on May 4.

Massa played in and started 40 games for the Pioneers this season and recorded at least one hit in 37 contests, including 22 multi-hit games. He finished with 131 total bases on the season and scored 54 runs for the Pioneers.
