PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Two members of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville baseball team earned All-Region honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings and D3baseball.com. Sophomore
Anthony Massa was tabbed Region 9 Position Player of the Year by both organizations while
Brayden Knoll earned Second and Third Team honors after an impressive freshman season.
Earning First Team honors from both the ABCA/Rawlings and D3baseball.com, Massa became just the second Pioneer in program history to collect Region Position Player of the Year honors, joining Jonathan Kelso (2021). Massa led the WIAC with a .799 slugging percentage, 1.304 OPS, 71 hits, 58 RBI and 15 home runs, while ranking second with a .433 batting average, third with 54 runs scored and fourth with a .505 on-base percentage. The third baseman had a 19-game hitting streak to start the season and produced a season-high four hits against Illinois College on March 20 and Edgewood University (Wis.) on May 4. Massa rewrote UW-Platteville's single-season record book in the process, breaking records in hits, home runs, total bases, runs batted in, and slugging percentage.
Knoll picked up a spot on D3baseball.com Second Team and ABCA/Rawlings Third team. The center fielder tied for fourth in the WIAC with 10 home runs, seventh with a .619 slugging percentage, eighth with a .361 batting average and 1.033 OPS, and eighth with 56 hits. Knoll batted 38 runs in and recorded 96 total bases while starting in 39 games. Early this month, Knoll became the first Pioneer in school history to receive the WIAC Newcomer of the Year honor.
