PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field teams will send five student-athletes to the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships later this week in La Crosse, Wis. Competition will take place Thursday through Saturday at UW-La Crosse's Roger Harring Stadium.
Representing the women's team will be
Izzy Peterson (100m, 200m) and
Hailey Campbell (high jump) while
Caden Schneider (3000m Steeplechase, 5000m),
McKade Jelinek (Discus) and
Owen Orioles (pole vault) will compete for the men.
Peterson, who holds the UW-Platteville school records in both the 100m and the 200m, makes her fourth consecutive championships appearance after winning the 200m and finishing third in the 60m at the 2026 Indoor Championships. The senior's times of 11.56 (100m) and 23.51 (200m) currently sit second best in DIII. The 200m prelims will take place on Thursday at 5:40 p.m., with the 100m prelims on Friday at 5:20 p.m. The finals in those events occur on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. (100m) and 3:40 p.m. (200m).
Campbell secured her spot in the NCAA Championships with a mark of 1.68m at the WIAC Championships earlier this month in La Crosse. The mark is currently tied for 15th in DIII. The junior will be competing in her fourth DIII championships, with this being her second outdoor championships. The women's high jump will take place on Friday at 2 p.m.
Schneider will run the 3000m steeplechase for the third straight outdoor championships after earning All-American honors last year and placing third in the event. The senior ran a season best time of 9:01.54 earlier this month at the UW-La Crosse Uncaged Eagle Open. The time currently ranks 12th in DIII. The prelims for the event are at 6:35 p.m. on Thursday with finals held at 6:10 p.m. on Friday. Then on Saturday, Schneider will compete in the 5000m at 4:25 p.m. after qualifying with a personal best time of 14:11.42, which he ran at this year's UW-Platteville Invitational on April 10. His time currently ranks 22nd in NCAA DIII.
Jelinek qualified in the discus for his fourth consecutive outdoor championships and has earned All-American honors in 2024 and 2025. His career-best throw of 54.09m at the WIAC Championships earlier this month is tied for fifth best in NCAA DIII this season. The men's discus is one of the first events of the championships and will take place on Thursday at 2 p.m.
Orioles will be making his second trip to nationals as a freshman after competing at the Indoor Championships earlier this year. The freshman cleared three PR-bars last week at the UW-La Crosse Final Qualifier meet, including 5.11m to secure a spot at the outdoor championships. The mark currently sits tied for sixth best in NCAA DIII. Orioles will compete on Saturday at noon.
