LA CROSSE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field teams sent student-athletes to a pair of final qualifying meets this week at Augustana (Ill.) and UW-La Crosse with the NCAA Outdoor Championships coming up next week.
Men's Highlights
Freshman
Owen Orioles had an impressive afternoon in the pole vault at UW-La Crosse, reaching a PR of 5.11m. That mark improves upon his previous best of 5.00m from two weeks ago and secures his spot to the NCAA Outdoor Championships next week.
Sophomore
Max Schneider finished second in the javelin from La Crosse, reaching a top mark of 54.93m. Sophomore
Daniel Wenger took eighth in the shot put with a toss of 16.43m on his first attempt.
The 4x400m relay team of
Mason Augustynowicz,
Kadyn Dixon,
Caleb Kitelinger, and
James Ketterer ran a season best time at UW-La Crosse of 3:12.40 to finish fourth overall. That time is the second fastest in UW-Platteville school history.
Senior
McKade Jelinek placed seventh in the discus, posting a top throw of 49.45m.
At Augustana, senior
Joshua Stone recorded a new personal-best time of 1:51.77 in the 800m to place seventh overall. Stone then ran the 800m against on Thursday in La Crosse, placing eighth in 1:53.34. In the 1500m, senior
Elijah Wade placed seventh while running a 3:51.24.
Freshman
Justin Kurt posted a new PR in the discus at Augustana, reaching a best mark of 46.34m on his first attempt of the day.
Women's Highlights
Junior
Hailey Campbell tied for first in the high jump at UW-La Crosse by reaching 1.64m.
The Pioneers 4x100m relay team of
Haley Stannard,
Izzy Peterson,
Rylee Steffen, and
Elianna Dalamangas placed sixth at the Augustana final qualifier with a time of 47.06.
At the same meet, junior
Laura Weaver took ninth in the hammer (46.74m) and junior
Evelyn Troxel was ninth in the pole vault (3.48m).

The Pioneers will send qualifiers to the NCAA DIII Outdoor National Championships next week, which run Thursday through Saturday in La Crosse.
