Weaver Sets School Record At Drake Alternative Meet

WHITEWATER, Wis. –  The University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field teams competed at a pair of meets on Saturday, with the majority of the team at the Drake Alternative meet hosted by UW-Whitewater, while Izzy Peterson and the women's 4x100m relay wrapped up the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.

Men's Highlights
Senior Elijah Wade was the winner in the 1500m at the Drake Alternative, recording a season-best time of 3:56.70. Senior Caden Schneider finished just behind at 3:57.81 for second, while junior Spencer Thiry took fourth at 4:00.39.

Senior Joshua Stone ran a season-best 1:53.50 in the 800m to win the event. Leading the way in the javelin was sophomore Max Schneider, who threw 50.85m to finish first.

Freshman Owen Orioles finished first in the pole vault, reaching a mark of 4.82m. Sophomore Brandyn Beahm took second at 4.52m, while junior Trevor Schulz tied for third at 4.37m.

Junior Nolan Marx and freshman Noah Platten each set new PRs in the finals of the 100m, with Marx finishing second at 10.77. Platten took fifth while running a 10.91. In the 400m hurdles, senior Alex Geisller finished fourth with a season-best of 57.63.

In the 400m, sophomores Cody Nichols and Haddon Borroughs also set new personal-best times. Nichols came in sixth at 50.69, while Borroughs was seventh at 50.74. Freshman Oliver Post placed fourth in the finals of the 110m hurdles, with a time of 15.34.

Freshman Caleb Kitelinger finished fourth in the 200m at 22.28, running a new personal-best in the process. Borroughs posted a season-best time of 22.46 for sixth.

Sophomore Nicholas Elliott placed fourth in the hammer throw with a best toss of 51.20m. Sophomore Nick Nuno took seventh, reaching a top mark of 49.52m. In the discus, sophomore Timothy Strebel took fourth, tossing a PR of 48.62m. Sophomore Daniel Wenger was the runner-up in the shot put, posting a season-best throw of 15.66m.

Freshman Sawyer Dase leapt to a third-place finish in the triple jump, reaching a mark of 13.65m. In the 5000m, senior Jack Ziegler finished in a PR time of 15:58.25, which was good for fourth overall.
 
Women's Highlights
At the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, the Pioneers 4x100m relay team of Haley Stannard, Izzy Peterson, Rylee Steffen, and Elianna Dalamangas improved upon yesterday's strong time to finish fifth at 46.92 in the finals. That time moves up to second on the UW-Platteville top 10 list and puts the group inside the top 20 on the national list.

Peterson also ran a time of 11.79 in the finals of the 100m at the Drake Relays, which was good for sixth.

Among the Drake Alternative finishers, senior Megan Hageman ran a PR of 4:45.35 in the 1500m to win the event. Senior Ava Garrard was the runner-up, also posting a personal-best of 4:52.01, while freshman Cecelia Skalsky placed fifth with a PR of 4:53.72.

Junior Laura Weaver broke the school record in the hammer throw at the Drake Alternative, posting a top mark of 51.39m on her sixth and final attempt. That throw breaks the previous record of 50.04m, which had been held by Bobbi Erickson since 2001.

Junior Evelyn Troxel set a new personal-best in the pole vault of 3.68m to win the event. That mark sits second on the Pioneers top 10 list. Junior Kaitlyn Lisafeld finished fourth in the same event with a season-best mark of 3.38m.

Junior Hailey Campbell had a strong day in the high jump, winning the event while reaching a season-best height of 1.65m. That mark places her inside the top 20 on the NCAA DIII performance list.

Junior Danielle Mauhar ran a personal-best time of 15.73 in the 100m hurdles finals to finish sixth in the event. Junior Grace Carlson came in eighth in the same event at 16.24. Mauhar later finished fourth in the 400m hurdles, setting a second PR of the day at 1:10.54.

Freshman Hailey Helms placed third in the 3000m steeplechase, posting a time of 12:45.48. In the 400m, senior Leah Digmann took fifth while running 1:03.78.

Freshmen Briana Bain (10.86m) and Layla Slife (10.63m) were the Pioneers' top finishers in the triple jump. Bain took fourth overall, while Slife came in sixth. In the shot put, senior Samantha Klann finished fifth with her top throw of 12.92m.

The Pioneers will compete at the 2026 WIAC Outdoor Championships next Friday and Saturday hosted by UW-La Crosse.
