LA CROSSE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field teams sent a select group of athletes to a pair of final qualifying meets at UW-La Crosse and Wartburg on Saturday with the NCAA DIII Championships less than a week away.
At UW-La Crosse, freshmen
Owen Orioles and
Braedon Shaner competed in the pole vault for the second consecutive day. Orioles took home the top spot in the event, reaching a personal-best of 4.95m on his first try at that height. That mark is tied for the second-best on the UW-Platteville Top 10 list and puts him inside the Top 20 on the DIII indoor list. Shaner finished eighth overall at 4.70m.
Junior
Evelyn Troxel also traveled to UW-La Crosse for the pole vault on Saturday afternoon. She took 11th overall by reaching a height of 3.58m.
At Wartburg, senior
Samantha Klann placed second in the women's shot put with her best throw of 13.09m. Freshman
Paige Kurlinski came in sixth in the same event at 12.88m.
Wrapping up the weekend in Wartburg was the men's 4x400m relay team of
Mason Augustynowicz,
Evan Graves,
Caleb Kitelinger, and
James Ketterer. That group ran a school record time of 3:17.59 to finish sixth in the event. The previous school record was 3:17.82 from back in 2024.
Those who qualify for the NCAA DIII Indoor National Championships will travel to Birmingham, Alabama to compete next Friday and Saturday inside the Birmingham Crossplex.
