PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – With just a week until the NCAA DIII Indoor Championships, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field teams hosted a final qualifying meet on Friday evening inside Williams Fieldhouse.
Men's Highlights
Freshman
Noah Platten won the 200m in 22.81 seconds, a new personal-best. He also placed fourth in the 60m dash and matched his previous best time of 7.14.
Sophomore
Daniel Wenger posted a new PR in the shot put of 16.43m to place second in the event. Junior
Colby Stotler took third at 15.14m.
Freshman
Braedon Shaner reached 4.65m in the pole vault to take first. Freshman
Owen Orioles also surpassed the 4.65m bar to take second.
Sophomore
Callahan Wrasman recorded a new personal best in the 60m hurdles and finished second overall in the event with a time of 8.30.
In the mile, the Pioneers had the top four finishers, led by junior
Spencer Thiry's winning time of 4:24.89. Senior
Christopher Wier (4:32.76), senior
Dylan King (4:35.90), and freshman Karson Marquardt (4:37.72) rounded out the top four.
Winning the 400m dash was junior
Andrew Zimmerman behind a time of 50.83 seconds. Junior
Paul Treiber was the top finisher in the 800m in 1:57.99.
Freshman
Sawyer Dase finished as the runner-up in the triple jump, reaching a mark of 13.37m.
The Pioneers sent the 4x400m DMR team of
Elijah Wade,
James Ketterer,
Joshua Stone, and
Caden Schneider to the Wartburg final qualifying meet on Friday. The quartet finished fourth overall with a time of 9:57.10, just .05 off the school. That time currently sits ninth in NCAA DIII.
Women's Highlights
Junior
Danielle Mauhar placed second in the 60m hurdles with a person-best time of 9.46 seconds. Freshman
Layla Slife came in third at 9.55.
Senior
Avery Brown set a new PR in the 3000m run of 10:51.24, which earned her a first-place finish. In the 400m, senior
Danika Tyler was the top finisher with a personal-best of 1:31.95.
Junior
Kendra Downing took first in the 800m run with a time of 2:28.42. Winning the 200m dash was junior
Grace Carlson, who posted a time of 27.20.
Junior
Laura Weaver reached a mark of 16.72m on her fifth attempt in the weight throw, which was good enough for second. Senior
Samantha Klann finished third in the shot put at 13.37m.
Junior
Evelyn Troxel reached a height of 3.59m in the pole vault to finish first.
Up Next
The Pioneers will second several student-athletes to a pair of another final qualifying meet at UW-La Crosse tomorrow. Those who advance to the NCAA Championships will travel to Birmingham, Alabama to compete next Friday and Saturday.
