BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field teams opened competition at the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships on Friday afternoon inside the Birmingham Crossplex in Alabama.
A pair of strong performances in prelims sent senior
Izzy Peterson to Saturday's finals in the 60m and 200m. Peterson opened the day with a 60m time of 7.51 to finish second in the prelims, just .01 behind the top runner. Later, she ran a 23.80 banked track time in the 200m to place second again and advance to the finals.
Peterson will run in the 60m finals at 10:55 a.m. tomorrow, with the 200m finals slated for 5:15 p.m.
In the weight throw, junior
Laura Weaver competed in her first NCAA Championships and finished 20th overall. Her best throw came on her first attempt of the day at 15.79m (51' 9.75").
Freshman
Owen Orioles, also making his national championships debut, placed 15th in the pole vault by reaching a mark of 4.83m (15' 10").
In addition to Peterson tomorrow, junior
Hailey Campbell (high jump), senior
Samantha Klann (shot put), and junior
Zachary Sporaa (3000m) will all compete for the Pioneers.
