WAVERLY, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field teams competed at the Wartburg Indoor Select Meet on Friday and Saturday inside Hoover Field House in Waverly, Iowa. The Pioneers had a strong two days, recording several personal-bests.
Men's Highlights
Freshman
Owen Orioles claimed the top spot in the pole vault by posting a height of 4.55m. Sophomore
Brandyn Beahm took third at 4.40m.
The Pioneers had the top six finishers in the 3000m, led by junior
Maxwell Sporaa's personal-best time of 8:45.83. Junior
Matt Tippel (8:51.01) and junior Paul Preifer (8:52.53) rounded out the top three for UW-Platteville in the event.
Freshman
Mason Augustynowicz was the runner-up in the 400m with a personal record time of 50.26 seconds. Senior
James Ketterer was right behind at 50.39 seconds. Ketterer also competed in the triple jump and placed third at 13.91m.
Sophomore
Daniel Wenger won the shot put collegiate on Saturday, reaching a new personal-best distance of 15.84m. Senior
McKade Jelinek placed third in that event with a throw of 15.05m.
Sophomore
Kadyn Dixon advanced to the final in the 60m dash and set a personal-best in the finals with a time of 6.94 seconds. That was good for fourth in the event.
Junior
Andrew Zimmerman set a season-best time of 1:56.17 in the 800m to take third.
Junior
Colby Stotler finished fourth in Friday's shot put invitational, reaching a mark of 15.77m on his final attempt of the day.
To wrap up the day, Zimmerman, Ketterer, Augustynowicz, and
Caleb Kitelinger won the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:25.13.
The Pioneers also sent a pair of distance runners to the Mark Guthrie Legacy meet hosted by UW-La Crosse. Junior
Zachary Sporaa finished third while running an impressive time of 8:12.16, just a tenth of second off the UW-Platteville school record. Senior
Caden Schneider finished eighth in the same event at 8:21.87.
Women's Highlights
Junior
Evelyn Troxel won the pole vault competition by setting a new PR of 3.66m. Her winning mark was .31m better than the next closest in the event. Sophomore
Kaitlyn Lisafeld finished third with a season-best mark of 3.20m.
Junior
Hailey Campbell finished first in the high jump, reaching a mark of 1.64m on her first attempt at that height. In the triple jump, junior
Elianna Dalamangas took second with a leap of 11.03m.
In Friday night's throw events, senior
Samantha Klann recorded a new personal-best of 12.63m in the shot put to finish second in the event. She also finished fourth in the weight throw with a mark of 15.62m. Junior
Laura Weaver was the Pioneers' top finisher in the weight throw, taking third at 15.68m.
Sophomore
Haley Stannard set a new PR in the 60m dash finals of 8.02 seconds. That time led her to a fourth-place finish in the event. Stannard later set another PR in the 200m with a sixth-place time of 26.58.

The Pioneers will host the UW-Platteville Invite next Saturday inside Williams Fieldhouse. Field events begin at 11 a.m. with running events slated to start at 11:30 a.m.
