PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field teams wrapped up competition at the WIAC Indoor Championships on Saturday inside Williams Fieldhouse. The Pioneers women's team placed fifth with 44 points, while the men took seventh and also totaled 44 points.
Men's Highlights
The Pioneers had a pair of podium finishers in the 3000m run, with junior
Zachary Sporaa leading the duo with a third-place finish in 8:29.57. Senior
Caden Schneider placed one spot behind Sporaa with a time of 8:31.96.
Senior
James Ketterer recorded a season-best mark of 14.16m in the triple jump to take third place in the event. His best jump of the afternoon came on his third attempt and helped him score six points for the Pioneers.
Sophomore
Callahan Wrasman scored four points for UW-Platteville in the 60m hurdles by finishing fifth. He put together a time of 8.36 in the finals of the event.
The 4x400m relay team of
Mason Augustynowicz,
Evan Graves,
James Ketterer, and
Caleb Kitelinger concluded the meet with a fifth-place finish in 3:19.80.
Senior
Joshua Stone earned a podium finish and three points in the 800m run by taking sixth overall in the event. He posted a time of 1:54.52, which is a season best.
Following the conclusion of the championships, senior
Christopher Wier was named to the WIAC Indoor All-Sportsmanship Team.
Women's Highlights
Senior
Izzy Peterson was crowned the WIAC Champion in the 60m dash with another strong showing in the event. One day after setting the school and facility record in the prelims with a time of 7.46, Peterson just missed matching that mark with a winning time of 7.47 in the finals.
In the weight throw, junior
Laura Weaver placed sixth with a best throw of 16.98m on her fifth attempt. Her podium finished earned three points for the Pioneers.
The Pioneers 4x400m relay team wrapped up the day with a seventh-place finish, running a time of 4:06.70.
After the meet, junior
Elianna Dalamangas was chosen to represent UW-Platteville on the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

With the NCAA DIII Indoor Nationals two weeks away, the Pioneers will compete at several last chance meets next weekend. UW-Platteville will host a final qualifier on Friday, while others will travel to Wartburg and UW-La Crosse on Saturday.
