COLFAX, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville cross country teams competed at the NCAA DIII North Regional Championships on Saturday afternoon from the Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax, Wisconsin. The men's team ran strong to finish third overall, while the women placed 17th.
Men's Highlights
The third-place finish is UW-Platteville's best at the regional meet since the 2010 season. The Pioneers totaled 120 points and trailed only UW-La Crosse (30 points) and UW-Stevens Point (110) at the meet.
Senior
Caden Schneider paced the team with his 11th-place finish of 24:56.8 in the 8K race to earn his third All-Region selection. Right behind him was junior
Zachary Sporaa, who earned his second straight All-Region honors after placing 12th overall in 24:59.6.
Sophomore
Maxwell Voss finished 25th overall to collect All-Region recognition behind a time of 25:33.3. Senior
Joshua Stone also took home regional honors after placing 31st in 25:38.3. Rounding out the team's scorers was junior
Maxwell Sporaa, who took 41st while running a 25:48.9.
Junior
Paul Pfeifer was UW-Platteville's sixth runner, and he posted a time of 25:58.8 for 47th. Coming in seventh was junior
Matt Tippel with a time of 26:13.6 for 63rd overall.
Women's Highlights
The women totaled 415 points to finish 17th out of 30 teams at the meet. UW-Platteville also finished seven points ahead of conference foe UW-Stout.
Leading the way was junior
Megan Hageman, who earned All-Region honors with her 31st-place finish of 23:00.1 in the 6K race. Behind her was senior
Avery Brown, who took 61st in the field of 207 runners with a time of 23:46.6.
Freshman
Cecilia Skalsky and sophomore
Caitlin Wirth were the Pioneers next two scorers, with the duo finishing just a couple seconds apart. Skalsky placed 105th in 24:35.1, while Wirth crossed the line at 24:38.0 for 107th. Rounding out the top five was freshman
Alexa Leonard's 111th-place finish in 24:41.8.
Closing out the top seven were senior
Leah Digmann and junior
Kendra Downing. Digmann (24:57.9) took 122nd overall, and Downing (25:13.8) finished 133rd.

The Pioneers will await the NCAA DIII cross country selection show tomorrow to see how many will advance to the 2025 NCAA DIII Championships. Thirty-two teams per gender will be selected, with the winners of each regional meet earning an automatic bid. The 2025 Championships will take place next Saturday, November 23 at the Roger Milliken Center in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
