OSHKOSH, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville cross country teams ran at the 2025 WIAC Championships on Saturday afternoon from the XC Ranch in Oshkosh. The men's team placed second out of eighth teams, while the women took eighth.
Men's Highlights
The men's team totaled 77 points to finish second, the highest finish at the conference meet since 2010. UW-La Crosse won the meet with 24 points, while UW-Stevens Point claimed third place with 87 points.
Leading the way for the Pioneers was senior
Caden Schneider, who ran a personal-best time of 23:56.55 in the 8K race to place fifth overall. After earning Second Team All-Conference honors each of the past two years, Schneider was tabbed First Team All-Conference following his showing on Saturday.
Junior
Zachary Sporaa was the second scorer on the day, taking 10th overall with a PR of 24:07.17. He earned Second Team All-Conference recognition after collecting Honorable Mention honors in 2024.
Sophomore
Maxwell Voss was named Honorable Mention All-WIAC after placing 18th overall. He ran a personal-best time of 24:46.78.
Rounding out the five scorers for the Pioneers were senior
Joshua Stone and junior
Paul Pfeifer. Both ran new PRs, led by Stone's 24:57.70 for 21st overall. Pfeifer finished 30th behind a time of 25:04.17.
Following the meet, junior
Alexander Albano was named to the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team.
Women's Highlights
The women scored 190 points to finish eighth at the meet. UW-La Crosse won the championship with 21 points, while UW-Eau Claire (63 points) and UW-Whitewater (98) rounded out the top three.
Junior
Megan Hageman was the team's top finisher, placing 27th overall with a personal-best time of 22:29.88 in the 6K race. Up next was senior
Avery Brown, who also ran a PR of 22:54.69 and placed 37th.
Wrapping up the top five scorers for UW-Platteville were freshman
Cecilia Skalsky, sophomore
Caitlin Wirth, and freshman
Alexa Leonard. Skalsky posted a season-best time of 23:20.13 for 49th overall, while Wirth was right behind with a personal-best time of 23:22.36 for 51st. Leonard also posted a PR, and finished 68th overall with a time of 23:45.8.
After the meet, junior
Kendra Downing was selected to the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

The Pioneers will have a week off before running at the NCAA North Regional Championships on Saturday, November 15. The men will run first at 11 a.m. with the women following at noon from Whitetail Golf Course in Colfax, Wisconsin.
