Aiken Sets Shutout Record In Win Over Prairie Wolves

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Senior goalkeeper Seth Aiken posted a new school record as the University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team (6-2-3) rolled to a 6-0 shutout win over Nebraska Wesleyan (3-4-4) on Tuesday afternoon inside Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.

Aiken secured three saves to record his fifth shutout and sixth wins of the season. He now has 23 total shutouts across his career, breaking the previous record of 22 held by Nate Miller (2016-2019). Aiken boasts a 0.96 goals against average for his career as well, which currently sits fourth all-time in program history.

The six goals scored against the Prairie Wolves were a season-high for the Pioneers, and senior Ethan Dietrich began the barrage in the 14th minute with his fourth goal of the season on a long shot off a pass from senior Sebastian Carranza.

Carranza added to the lead just over a minute later after a long cross from sophomore Chase Dwinal led to a header that sailed over the keeper and into the net. The goal was Carranza's fourth of the season, and third in the past three games.

Freshman Antonio Ferreira tallied the Pioneers third first-half goal in the 20th minute after gathering a Prairie Wolves turnover in their own end and firing a left-footed shot into the lower left corner.

In the second half, senior Alester Dawson netted a penalty kick in the 72nd minute, extending the lead to four. UW-Platteville added two more goals in the next ten minutes, as freshman Caden Wits sent one home following a pass from freshman Roberto Salinas in the 78th minute, and senior Christian Diaz scored in the 80th minute.

UW-Platteville outshot Nebraska Wesleyan 13-5 in the match, including 9-3 in shots on goal. Ten different players recorded at least one shot attempt for the Pioneers, with Carranza's three and Ferreira's two pacing the team.

The Pioneers travel to UW-Stevens Point (8-2-2, 0-1-0 WIAC) for a Saturday afternoon conference match. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
