Brandon Chmiel scored twice and Jared Kuehl made three saves to lead the University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team to a 3-0 shutout over St. Norbert on Saturday in Dubuque.
The Pioneers (3-3-1) snapped a two-game losing skid in the win. Chmiel has scored five of the 10 goals by UW-Platteville in 2011. All three of the Pioneers victories have been shutouts by Kuehl.
St. Norbert (0-4) was limited to just five shots and goalkeeper Noah Davis was forced to make seven saves in the loss.
Chmiel put UW-Platteville on the board in the third minute for the early advantage. Later in the half, Mike Presser scored in the 23rd minute to stretch the margin to 2-0. Early into the second half, CHmiel took a pass from Zach Wall for the final margin and his first multi-goal game of the season.
Next up for UW-Platteville is a matchup against Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday, Sept. 18 after the women's contest at Pioneer Stadium.
