Ciszewski Scores Game-Winning Goal in 81st Minute for 2-1 Win Over Nebraska Wesleyan

With the score tied, University of Wisconsin-Platteville junior Mark Ciszewski picked the right time to score his first goal of the season. The Germantown native was at the right spot hiding along the left post on a corner kick from Brandon Chmiel (pictured) in the 81st minute to lead the Pioneers to a 2-1 win over Nebraska Wesleyan on Sunday.

UW-Plattevile (4-3-1) had jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Michael Prudisch scored five minutes into the contest. The sophomore midfielder from Verona struck the shot at the top of the box after a pass from Brandon Chmiel for the early lead.

Nebraska Wesleyan (1-5) challenged Pioneer goalkeeper Jared Kuehl early and often in the second half. The Prairie Dogs got off five shots, including an attack by Colby Twist, who with his back to the goal in the 68th minute made a quick 360-degree turn and fired a shot past Kuehl to tie the contest at 1.

The Pioneers retaliated and had three shots sail high and a shot by Chmiel that hit the crossbar. With the clock winding down in the second half, UW-Platteville got its second corner kick of the final 45 minutes to set the stage for the game-winning goal by Ciszewski.

Next up for UW-Platteville is its WIAC opener on Wed., Sept. 21 at UW-Whitewater at 7 p.m.
