Nobody could have really blamed the UW-Platteville men's soccer
team if the Pioneers lost Saturday. After all, the Pioneers were on
the road for the fourth straight weekend; they were coming off a
pair of tough 1-0 losses to Minnesota schools; and they were
staring at a 2-0 deficit at Luther.
The resilient Pioneers, however, rallied for a thrilling 3-2 win
against Luther. Cole Aschenbrenner's goal at 75:46 completed the
stirring comeback for the Pioneers, who improved to 8-6-2
overall.
Brandon Chmiel began the comeback with a goal right before
halftime, and Mitch Cornelius scored four minutes into the second
half, tying the score. Aschenbrenner netted his first collegiate
goal for the game-winner.
George Diener and Melchor Quezada scored first-half goals for
the Norse (5-7-1).
The Pioneers now close with four straight home games, beginning
with Tuesday's game against Ashford at 6 p.m.
