PITTSBURGH, PA – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville (0-2-0) fell 2-1 to No. 21 ranked Carnegie Mellon (2-0-0) on Friday afternoon.
The Tartans blistering offense attacked first in the 16
th minute on a successful penalty kick, but the Pioneers answered in the 27
th minute with senior
Elise Kukuck's first goal of the season.
The score remained locked 1-1 until Carnegie Mellon scored the go-ahead goal 15 minutes into the second half and UW-Platteville was unable to score the neutralizing goal.
The Tartans outshot the Pioneers 12-1, placing seven on frame, and also held a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Senior
Marguerite Mueller tallied five saves across the 90 minutes in goal.
The Pioneers will return to action on Sunday when they make a stop at the University of Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio. Game time is set for 11:30 a.m.
