PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team finished in a 2-2 draw with an unbeaten Illinois Wesleyan team Saturday night inside Ralph E. Davis Pioneers Stadium.
Senior
Jess Morawski struck first with a Pioneers (2-2-3) goal in the 20
th minute, assisted by senior
Sarah Liljestrand. Less than five minutes later, the Titans (4-0-4) tied the game 1-1.
Illinois Wesleyan maintained momentum and struck again with three minutes left in the first half to go ahead by a goal heading into the break.
The Pioneers kept fighting, holding a 6-3 advantage in shots during the second half, and that drive paid off in the 69
th minute when a neutralizing goal by sophomore
Mira Petri with an assist from senior
Elise Kukuck tied the game 2-2.
Overall, the Pioneers held an 11-9 edge in shots, placing four on frame, along with a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Senior
Marguerite Mueller tallied three saves in the draw during her 90 minutes in goal.
The Pioneers return home on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 5 p.m. for a match against Simpson College.
