PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – In the season opener, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team (0-1-0) fell 1-0 to Saint Mary's University (1-0-0) on Tuesday night inside Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
The game was scoreless after the first 45 minutes, with each team tallying just one shot.
The Pioneers outshot the Cardinals by a narrow 4-3 margin in the second half, but Saint Mary's was able to capitalize on a chance following a foul in the 58
th minute. UW-Platteville was unable to get the equalizer as the Cardinals held on to the one-goal lead.
Five Pioneers accounted for the five shots taken in the match and senior
Marguerite Mueller tallied two saves while in goal for the full 90 minutes.
Next up, UW-Platteville will hit the road for a trip out east. First, the Pioneers take on Carnegie Mellon in Pttsburgh, PA at 4 p.m.
