PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – This week, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville track and field teams head to UW-La Crosse on Friday, the baseball team wraps up its season on Monday, and the softball team prepares for this weekend's WIAC Tournament presented by Culver's.
Softball Locks in #2 Seed
The Pioneers softball team locked in the #2 seed of the WIAC Tournament after defeating UW-Oshkosh 2-1 in the first game of last Saturday's doubleheader. UW-Platteville will play the winner of Friday's game between #6 UW-La Crosse and #3 UW-Whitewater on Saturday, May 9 at 1:30 p.m. The Pioneers split with both the Eagles and Warhawks during the regular season. The winner of the game will advance to the championship game with the winner earning the WIAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. As the #1 seed, UW-Oshkosh will host the 2026 tournament at the Mary Beth Nienhaus Softball Complex.
Baseball Wraps Up Season at Edgewood
Narrowly missing out on the conference tournament, the Pioneers baseball team will wrap up the 2026 campaign on Monday in a single non-conference game at Edgewood College in Madison at 5 p.m. The Eagles are 19-18 on the season and are led by Jacob Carney who is hitting .366.
Track and Field Head Back to La Crosse
The Pioneers will get to know the UW-La Crosse facility very well as they head to their second of four meets this month in La Crosse. UW-Platteville will compete at the Eagle Open on Friday, May 8 as they prepare for the Eagles hosting the NCAA Outdoor Nationals later this May.
