STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville baseball team (20-19, 11-17 WIAC) swept UW-Stevens Point (19-21, 11-17 WIAC) on Saturday by scores of 8-3 and 9-7 from Zimmerman Field.

Game One
Senior Jordan Stanton put together a dominant outing, tossing a complete game and striking out 11 in the process. Stanton walked two while giving up three runs on seven hits in his fifth win of the season.

The Pioneers offense backed up Stanton and combined for four home runs in the victory. Freshman Brayden Knoll was the first to go yard, with a solo homer in the top of the first. Freshman Ethan Birkel extended the advantage to 3-1 in the top of the second with a two-run home run to right field. Senior Mason Molitor extended the lead to 4-0 with another home run in the fourth inning.

UW-Stevens Point began a comeback, scoring three runs in the bottom of the fourth behind a wild pitch, single and triple. However, the Pioneers picked up right where they left off in the fifth when sophomore Anthony Massa homered to left field, pushing the lead to 5-3. UW-Platteville sprinkled three runs across the final three innings to push its advantage to 8-3.

The Pioneers outhit UW-Stevens Point 12-7 with senior Connor Gresens finishing 3-for-5 to pace the team.

Game Two
The second game kept fans on the edge of their seats as the teams exchanged the lead five times. The Pioneers took a 3-0 lead in the first behind a two-RBI single from Molitor and a sacrifice fly by senior Spencer Robertson. The Pointers answered with two runs in the second and third and another in the fourth, featuring three home runs.

Robertson became the fifth Pioneer to homer on Saturday when he hit a three-run bomb to left center, giving UW-Platteville a 6-5 advantage. UW-Stevens Point reclaimed the lead, 7-6, in the bottom of the sixth, but Gresens hit a go-ahead double to center field, driving in two runs in the seventh frame. Freshman Jacob Gervase batted in the Pioneers' ninth and final run of the game to close out the seventh inning.

Senior Wyatt Fischer came in for relief in the sixth frame and closed out the game to earn his first win of the season. The lefty struck out one, walked one and allowed just one run on three hits in four innings.

The Pioneers recorded 10 hits in the win with Gresens, Molitor, Gervace and Robertson each recording two-hit games. Robertson drove in a team-high four runs, followed by two each for Gresens and Molitor.
