PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Junior Melissa Dietz of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville softball team was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America First Team it was announced on Wednesday night.
Dietz collects NFCA All-American honors for the second time in her collegiate career after earning the recognition in 2023 as a freshman. The two-time WIAC Position Player of the Year and NFCA First Team All-Region selection put together a fantastic junior campaign, breaking UW-Platteville single-season records for batting average (.526) and doubles (21). Dietz paced the WIAC in several other offensive categories, including slugging percentage (.897), on-base percentage (.590), and OPS (1.487), and her 44 RBI and 61 total hits ranked second most in a single-season in program history.
Dietz played in 36 games for the Pioneers this season and recorded at least one hit in 32 contests, including 19 multi-hit games. The third baseman connected on six home runs, two of which came in UW-Platteville's WIAC Tournament run to the championship game. Dietz finished with 104 total bases on the season and scored 24 runs for the Pioneers while striking out just three times and drawing 17 walks.
