PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville athletic teams enter postseason play and crossover season this week. Men's and women's soccer host WIAC Tournament games, while volleyball wraps up the regular season at home on Friday. Football hosts UW-Stout on Saturday, while wrestling continues the early portion of its schedule at Lakeland. Men's and women's basketball tip-off their seasons this weekend.
Men's Soccer Hosts Opening Round of WIAC Tournament
The Pioneers men's soccer team clinched the fourth seed in this week's WIAC Tournament and will welcome in fifth-seed UW-River Falls on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. The winner will advance to Thursday's semifinals match, with the WIAC Championship game taking place on Saturday.
The Falcons and Pioneers played to a 2-2 draw in the regular season meeting back in early October. UW-River Falls enters the tournament with a 3-9-4 overall record. Sorel Richardson is the team's leading goal scorer with five on the season.
Women's Soccer Hosts Semifinal Match
After securing the second seed in the WIAC Tournament, the Pioneers women's soccer team will have a first-round bye. UW-Platteville will host the semifinal match against the highest remaining seed on Friday night at 7 p.m. The winner will advance to Saturday's WIAC Championship game on Sunday.
Volleyball Wraps up Regular Season Friday
The Pioneers volleyball team will conclude the regular season on Friday night at 5 p.m. at home against UW-River Falls. UW-Platteville will also recognize the Senior Class prior to the match.
The Falcons are 14-14 overall and 1-5 in conference play entering the week. Four different players are averaging over 2.00 kills per set, with Blessing Adebisi (2.68) and Ava Goldsberry (2.530 pacing the team.
Wrestling Competes at Muskie Scramble
The Pioneers wrestling team opened the season this past weekend with a third-place finish at the Jim Fox Invite hosted by the University of Dubuque. UW-Platteville now travels to Lakeland on Saturday morning for the Muskie Scramble. Action inside the Woltzen Gymnasium in Plymouth begins at 10 a.m.
Football Takes on UW-Stout Saturday
Following a seven-point win over UW-Oshkosh this past weekend, the Pioneers football team will face UW-Stout in the final regular season home game on Saturday with kickoff slated for 2 p.m.
The Blue Devils fell out of the D3football.com Top 25 this week after losing to UW-La Crosse this past week by a score of 31-14. UW-Stout is still 5-3 overall and 3-2 in WIAC play on the season and are led by quarterback Adam Moen, who has 10 passing and nine rushing touchdowns on the season.
Women's Basketball Visits Loras
The Pioneers women's basketball team opens its season on Saturday at Loras. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. The Duhawks concluded the 2024-25 season with a 9-16 record, including a 6-10 mark in A-R-C play.
Men's Basketball Plays Home Opener Sunday
The Pioneers men's basketball team begins its 2025-26 season at home on Sunday at 2 p.m. against Nebraska Wesleyan. The Prairie Wolves had a strong 2024-25 season, going 20-7 overall and 12-4 in conference while finishing as the runner-up in the A-R-C Tournament.
