SAINT PETER, Minn. – The No. 18 University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's basketball team (3-2) fell 87-72 at Gustavus Adolphus (3-1) on Saturday evening from Gus Young Court in Saint Peter, Minnesota.
The Gusties jumped out to a double-digit lead less than five minutes into the first half behind an early 11-2 run. UW-Platteville chipped away at the deficit over the next couple minutes and got back within four at 18-14 following a transition dunk by senior
Miles Hettinger and a jumper by junior
Lucas Rameker. The Pioneers were unable to get any closer as the half came to a close, and Gustavus Adolphus pushed the lead back up to 43-33 at the break following a late three-point make.
The gap remained in double figures throughout the entirety of the second half as the Gusties found success on the offensive end. The home team shot 59.4 percent (19-of-32) from the floor over the final 20 minutes and knocked down five threes while holding the Pioneers to 37.1 percent (13-of-35). Gustavus Adolphus' biggest lead of the game was 18 at the 3:17 mark of the second half and the Pioneers got it to 87-72 at the end.

Max Love scored a team-high 17 points on 6-of-13 shooting, while junior
Bristol Lewis added 16 points and shared the team lead in rebounds (5) with seniors
Joey Fuhremann and
Aiden Wieczorek. Off the bench, freshman
Kaden MacKenzie added nine points on a perfect 3-of-3 shooting.
For the game, UW-Platteville shot 40.7 percent (24-of-59), but just 23.3 percent (7-of-30) from beyond the arc. The Pioneers got the free throw line and shot 73.9 percent (17-of-23).
Four Gusties reached double figures, highlighted by 28 points from Andrew Quam. Jake Schmitt also finished with 20 points with a game-high five made threes. Gustavus Adolphus wrapped up the game at 54.0 percent (34-of-63) from the field and 40.7 percent (11-of-27) from deep.
The Pioneers will return home on Tuesday night to face Augustana (Ill.) on Bo Ryan Court. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
