This Week In Pioneer Athletics

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Three University of Wisconsin-Platteville athletic teams will compete this week, including men's cross country, who earned an at-large bid to the 2025 NCAA DIII Championships this Saturday. Both men's and women's basketball will play on the road this week.

Men's Basketball on the Road this Week
The Pioneers men's basketball team will travel for the first time season with road games at North Central on Wednesday and Gustavus Adolphus on Saturday. UW-Platteville will tip-off in Naperville, Illinois at 7 p.m. with Saturday's game in Saint Peter, Minnesota starting at 5 p.m.
The Cardinals dropped their season opener against Aurora last Wednesday by a score of 65-55. Tyler Swierczek scored a team-high 23 points in the loss for North Central.

The Gusties are off to a 2-0 start after beating Aurora and Rockford to begin the year. Gustavus Adolphus will also face Whitworth on Thursday night before hosting the Pioneers on Saturday. Four players are averaging double-digit points per game, led by 17.0 from Andrew Quam.

Women's Basketball Heads to Dubuque Friday
After picking up a pair of wins in Walla Walla, Washington this past weekend, the Pioneers women's basketball team will travel to Dubuque on Friday night for a 6 p.m. tip-off.

The Spartans fell to 2-2 on the season after losing to Saint Benedict and Cornell this past weekend. Christina Simonetti is averaging a double-double off the bench this season for Dubuque with 14.3 points and 11.0 rebounds per game.

Men's Cross Country Runs at 2025 NCAA Championships
The Pioneers men's cross country team will compete at the 2025 NCAA Division III Championships for the first time as a team since 2015. UW-Platteville earned one of 22 at-large bids following a third-place finish at the regional meet.

The championships will take place at the Roger Milliken Cross Country Course in Spartanburg, South Carolina on Saturday with the race beginning at 9 a.m. CT.  Converse University of OneSpartanburg, Inc. will host the meet.
