Pioneers to Host Alma in Second Round of NCAA DIII Championship

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville football team earned an at-large bid to the 2025 NCAA Division III Championship, the national committee announced Sunday evening. The Pioneers receive a first-round bye and will host Alma College (Mich.) at Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium on November 29 at noon.
 
The announcement marks the second consecutive and fourth overall NCAA playoff berth for UW-Platteville. The Pioneers (8-2) were one of three WIAC teams to earn an at-large bid while the Scots received the MIAA's automatic qualifier following their last-play 35-34 victory over #24 Adrian this past Saturday. 
 
The Pioneers and Scots will be meeting for the first time in series history. 
 
The first round of action is Saturday, November 22 with second round set for Saturday, November 29 and third round on Saturday, December 6. Quarterfinals are set for Saturday, December 13. The national semifinals are Saturday, December 20 and the national championship game will take place Sunday, January 4 at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio. 
 
UW-Platteville is one of four teams from the WIAC to advance to the NCAA DIII Championship. UW-River Falls (9-1), the league's regular season champion, will host a second-round game vs the winner of the Whitworth (Wash.) and Chapman (Calif.) game. UW-La Crosse (7-2) will travel to Hope (Mich.) for a second-round game while UW-Whitewater will host DePauw (Ind.) on November 29 as well.
