WHITEWATER, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team (7-5-5, 1-2-2 WIAC) wrapped up the regular season with a 2-1 loss at UW-Whitewater (14-3-1, 4-0-1 WIAC) on Friday night from Robert W. Fiskum Field in the annual Shaymus Guinn Cup match.
The Pioneers scored first, as senior 
Brock Jurinek netted his first goal of the season in the 18th minute of opening half. The score remained in favor of UW-Platteville for the rest of the half, as senior goalkeeper 
Seth Aiken made a pair of saves to maintain the lead.
UW-Whitewater evened the game at one apiece quickly out of the break with a score in the 54th minute. The Warhawks continued to put pressure on the Pioneers defense and eventually broke through with a goal in the 82nd minute to take the 2-1 lead. UW-Platteville was unable to get the tying goal down the stretch as UW-Whitewater hung on for the win.
After getting outshot 4-2 in the first half, the Warhawks controlled the tempo in the second half and posted a 10-1 advantage in shots. For the Pioneers, four of the five shots attempted were on goal, led by two from Jurinek. Juniors 
Brady Harwood and 
Thomas Gaither had toe team's other two shots on goal.
Aiken finished with three saves on five shots faced while playing all 90 minutes in net.
The Pioneers will enter next week's WIAC Tournament as the fourth seed. UW-Platteville will host fifth-seeded UW-River Falls on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
