Pioneers Shutout By Knights Wednesday

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – In the final non-conference match of the season, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team (8-5-4) fell 2-0 to Carleton (13-2-2) on Wednesday night inside Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.

The Knights scored once in each half, starting with a 15th minute score to take the early advantage. The visitors added to the lead in the 57th minute and held UW-Platteville scoreless for the remainder of the contest.

The Pioneers finished just behind Carleton in shots on goal 6-5, with the Knights holding a 16-9 edge in total shots throughout the evening.Freshman Raven Rogers led UW-Platteville with two total shots and joined sophomore Jorie Carr, senior Sarah Liljestrand, junior Elise Kukuck, and graduate student Leah Ahlers with one attempt on frame.

In goal, freshman Sophia Vriesema finished with four saves on six shots faced. She made a pair of stops in each half.

UW-Platteville welcomes in UW-Eau Claire on Saturday night at 6 p.m. for the final WIAC regular season match.
