Pioneers Post Conference Draw With Eagles

LA CROSSE, Wis. – A second-half equalizer by junior Jess Morawski sent the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team (8-4-3, 2-1-2 WIAC) to a 1-1 draw at UW-La Crosse (14-2-1, 4-0-1 WIAC) on Wednesday night inside Veterans Memorial Field.

The Eagles controlled the pace of play for much of the first half and scored the game's first goal in the 17th minute. UW-La Crosse attempted 17 shots compared to three for the Pioneers across the first 45 minutes, but junior goalkeeper Marguerite Mueller made six saves to keep the game within reach.

In the 53rd minute, Morawski scored her fourth goal of the season to even the game at one apiece. Senior Izzy Streeter was credited with the assist, her first on the year, while Morawski tallied her third goal of the past five matches.

UW-La Crosse outshot the Pioneers 27-5 for the match, including 10-3 in shots on target. Mueller was fantastic in net for UW-Platteville, making a season-high nine saves.
