Men's Soccer Blanks Gorlocks Friday

St. Louis, Mo. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team (4-0-2) tallied its third shutout of the season with a 4-0 win over Webster (2-3-1) on Friday evening from Worldwide Technology Soccer Park.

Sophomore Sebastian Carranza opened the scoring for the Pioneers with his second goal of the season in the seventh minute. Freshman Justin Williams and sophomore Danny Gutzwiller were credited with assists on the goal.

Holding a one-goal lead entering the second half, the UW-Platteville offense erupted with three goals in the final 45 minutes to collect the 4-0 win. Sophomore Ethan Dietrich netted his first goal of the season in the 56th minute to put the Pioneers up two on an assist by Williams. The final two goals went to sophomore Brock Jurinek and sophomore Bryan Higgs. Gutzwiller earned his second assist on the evening on Jurinek's goal, while junior Lucas Godon and freshman Timi Usikalu tallied assists on the goal by Higgs.

UW-Platteville outshot the Gorlocks 22-5 and 10-3 in shots on frame. Dietrich paced the Pioneers with six total shots and three on goal, while Jurinek finished with four shots of his own.

In goal, sophomore Seth Aiken was credited with the win after making one save across 45 minutes in net. Junior Chase Werner played the second half between the pipes and made a pair of stops.

The Pioneers continue the road trip with a match against Greenville tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m.
