Prairie Wolves edge Pioneers

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team fell 1-0 Saturday to Nebraska Wesleyan University in a closely matched night. Saturday was also the Pioneers' Shoot to Beat MS cause game where the team raised awareness for the battle to fight Multiple Sclerosis.

Each team tallied eight shots apiece with seven on goal for the Prairie Wolves and five on goal for the Pioneers.

The Prairie Wolves scored the lone winning goal in the 13th minute when Olivia Munroe scored an unassisted goal moments after her own blocked shot.

Senior Taylor Martin led the Pioneers with a team high three shots with two on goal. Senior Kathryn Flaherty recorded six saves in the full 90 minutes while Liz Wolf recorded five saves for Nebraska Wesleyan.

The Prairie wolves improve to 6-1-0 overall while the Pioneers slip to 1-6-1 overall.

The Pioneers return to action on Thursday night when they host the Duhawks of Loras College at 7 p.m. in Ralph E. Davis Pioneer Stadium.
