No. 25 UW-Platteville Extends Unbeaten Streak to Nine with 4-0 Win Over St. Norbert

The No. 25 University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team scored twice in each half en route to a 4-0 win over host St. Norbert College on Sunday afternoon.

The Pioneers (10-1-1) extend its unbeaten string to nine in a row in the victory. In the win, the Pioneers controlled the offense throughout the contest with a 25 to 3 advantage in shots. In addition to the offensive strength exhibited by the Pioneers, the UW-Platteville defense did not allow a goal for the seventh time on the season.

St. Norbert (4-4-2) challenged backup goalkeeper Noah Davis, who came off the bench in the 11th minute in replace of starter Scott Faul, throughout the contest.  Davis faced an aggressive attack that saw 11-different players record a shot. Offensively, St. Norbert was held to just three shots.

In the first half, UW-Platteville senior Brandon Chmiel put the Pioneers ahead 1-0 in the 25th minute with his eighth goal of the season. Later in the half, he would add an assist on a Michael Prudisch goal in the 37th minute to stretch the lead to 2-0.

The Pioneers added two more goals in the second half when Mark Ciszewski scored his seventh goal of the season in the 58th minute. Ciszewski finished a loose ball in front of the goal to put UW-Platteville up by a 3-0 margin. Later in the half, in the 85th minute, Mbodje Sarr closed out the contest with his third goal of the season when curved in a shot from a sharp angle for the 4-0 margin.

Next, UW-Platteville will return to the rigors of the WIAC for a matchup against UW-Whitewater on Thursday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. in Whitewater. The Warhawks were the pre-season favorites in the conference.
