The University of Wisconsin-Platteville men's soccer team knocked off University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh - who is ranked No. 6 in the latest NSCAA North Regional rankings - 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
The Pioneers (7-7-2, 2-2 WIAC) got on the scoreboard when junior Cole Aschenbrenner capitalized on a corner kick from senior Brandon Chmiel in the 27th minute. The victory by the Pioneers is just the fourth win by UW-Platteville in the previous 27 meetings against the Titans.
UW-Oshkosh (5-4-2, 2-2 WIAC) managed to outshoot UW-Platteville by a 15 to 8 margin, including a decisive 12-0 advantage in the final 45 minutes. The Titans challenged the UW-Platteville defense as goalkeeper Jared Kuehl made nine saves for his fourth shutout of the season.
UW-Platteville will return to action on Monday night when they host Dubuque in a 7 p.m. tilt in Pioneer Stadium.
