Pioneers Extend Unbeaten Streak to Four

A Katie Viney goal in the eighth minute was all the scoring in a 1-0 win by the University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team over Mount Mercy on Tuesday night at Pioneer Stadium.

The Pioneers (8-8-1) had opportunities to extend its lead as two shots hit the crossbar and another hit the post in the shutout win.

With the victory, UW-Platteville extends its unbeaten streak to four in a row. The last time that the Pioneers were unbeaten in four consecutive games was in a stretch of the second game through the fifth game of the 2010 season.

Mount Mercy (4-12-1) was held to three shots in the contest as the Pioneers held possession for most of the contest and outshot the Mustangs by a 17 to 3 margin.

UW-Platteville goalkeeper Jade Jandt has not allowed a goal in the last 308 minutes of action between the posts for the Pioneers.

The Pioneers will now turn their attention to UW-Stevens Point, who is 9-7 overall and 3-4 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, in the final regular season game on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m.
