University of Wisconsin-Platteville Pioneers

Phil Micech, a graduate of UW-Platteville, continues to lend hisknowledge and expertise as an assistant coach for UW-Plattevillefootball.

Micech was involved in the tutelage of 2012 first-team all-WIACdefensive lineman Corey Marks, who earned his third-straightfirst-team honor.

In 2012, the Pioneer defense was second in the WIAC in scoringdefense (17.7 ppg), rushing defense (125.3 ypg) and total defense(316.0 ypg). In 2010, he was named the Wisconsin Football CoachesAssociation WIAC Assistant Coach of the Year.

Micech is the answer to a great trivia question, as he scoredthe first points in Arena Football League history, recording asafety. Before embarking on a professional career, he was atwo-time all-WIAC defensive lineman for the Pioneers, in 1981 and1982. 

Micech went on to sign a free-agent contract with the MinnesotaVikings.
