Michael Martin enters his eleventh year at UW-Platteville, second year as Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Performance and first as the Defensive Backs Coach after serving three years as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach and five years as an Assistant Athletic Trainer and Strength Coach.
During the 2015-2016 academic year, Martin worked as a graduate assistant Athletic Trainer while finishing his masters in Kinesiology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and working towards a master’s degree in Adult Education at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
Prior to coming to UW-Platteville, Martin was a graduate intern Strength and Conditioning Coach with the University of Wisconsin Football program. Martin also worked as an Athletic Trainer with the UW Health Outreach providing athletic training coverage to a variety of local teams around the Madison area.
Martin, a Certified Strength and Condition Coach (CSCS), a Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC) and is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He is a licensed Athletic Trainer in the state of Wisconsin and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association. In addition, Martin is Functional Movement Screening certified (FMS), Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) certified, a USA Weightlifting certified coach, certified First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor, and a certified Myofascial Cupping Practitioner.
Martin, a native of Madison, Wisconsin attended Loras College where he was a member of the football and rugby programs in addition to receiving his bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training with a minor in Coaching in May of 2014.
