DECORAH, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville cross country team opened the season by winning the Luther All-American Invite on Saturday morning in Decorah, Iowa.
The Pioneers totaled 42 points to lead the seven scoring teams, with all five of the top runners finishing inside the top 13 overall. Luther came in second with 66 points, while Iowa Central Community College rounded out the top three with 83 points.
Sophomore
Cecilia Skalsky was the team's top scorer, placing sixth overall with a personal best time of 19:47.8. Senior
Megan Hageman (19:48.3) and sophomore
Julianna Moran (19:48.9) followed very close behind to place seventh and eighth, respectively.
Sophomore Alex Leonard took 12th while running 20:18.7, and sophomore
Sarah Knaack rounded out the scorers with her 13th-place finish in 20:24.5.
Senior
Kendra Downing was the sixth Pioneers to cross the finish line, posting a time of 20:54.2 for 18th place. Junior
Elsa Temples also finished inside the top 25, placing 25th overall in 21:11.5.
UW-Platteville will run next Saturday in Northfield, Minnesota at the St. Olaf Invite.
