NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville cross country teams previewed the NCAA National Championship course at the Running of the Cows meet on Saturday afternoon hosted by Carleton in Northfield, Minnesota. The women placed 21st out 32 teams with 635 points, while the men took 10th in the open with 310 points.
Men's Highlights
Leading the way for the Pioneers was freshman
Bennett Story, who placed 31st overall with an 8K time of 26:56.3.
Freshman
Kelton Koepp crossed the line in 27:42.0, which was good for 79th in the race. Behind him was freshman
Bradyn Wendorff, who ran a time of 27:53.6 to take 94th. One spot behind Wendorff was freshman
Kaden Reiss with a time of 27:54.8.
Rounding out the top five was freshman
Zane Mattson with a 104th-place finish in 28:07.6. Freshmen
Will Johnson and
Ty Landphair closed out the top seven runners for UW-Platteville. Johnson placed 118th in 28:15.4, while Landphair was 122nd in 28:19.8.
Women's Highlights
Sophomore
Cecilia Skalsky ran a season-best time of 23:26.3 in the 6K race to finish 25th overall.
Freshman
Tori Browning came in 146th place while running a 25:13.8. The third Pioneer to cross the line was freshman
Elli Johnson, who placed 215th with a time of 26:09.4.
Rounding out the top five runners was freshman
Grace Fretz and freshman
Hailey Heiar. Fretz ran a 26:24.0 to take 237th, while Heiar placed 268th behind a time of 26:56.6.
Freshman
Ella Mathews was the final Pioneer to run, placing 340th in 28:58.4.

The Pioneers will have two weeks to prepare for the Augustana Interregional Invite in Rock Island, Illinois on October 17. Competition takes place at Sauke Golf Course.
