Max Lucey collected WIAC Postseason honors the league announced on Wednesday afternoon. Fuhremann was tabbed All-WIAC, while Lewis was named Honorable Mention. Lucey earned a spot on the All-Sportsmanship Team.
Fuhremann has been one of the best big men in the WIAC this season, averaging a career-best 12.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per game across nearly 25 minutes a game. The senior remained one of the most efficient scorers in conference, sitting second in the WIAC at 67.8 percent from the floor. His career field goal percentage of 68.7 ranks first in UW-Platteville program history. Fuhremann saved some of best games for the final week of the regular season, scoring a career-high 28 points on 11-of-14 shooting in a win over UW-Eau Claire before scoring 23 more the next time out against UW-Stout.
Lewis enters the NCAA Tournament as UW-Platteville's leading scorer this season at 15.0 points per game, good for sixth in the WIAC. In his first season as a starter, Lewis emerged as one of the best three-point shooters in the conference, ranking second this season at 40.1 percent. The junior added 3.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game while shooting 81.8 percent from the free throw line, second-best mark on the team. Lewis has been a consistent double-digit scorer for the Pioneers and surpassed 20 points six times, including a career-high 24 points in a win over Carroll early in the year.
Lucey has stepped into an important bench role this season, averaging career-highs in points (3.8), rebounds (2.0), and assists (1.1) per game while appearing in all 27 games. The junior scored a career-high 16 points in UW-Platteville's WIAC Tournament win over UW-Oshkosh on February 24.
The Pioneers season continues on Friday against Otterbein in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. Game time is set for 4:40 with the University of Chicago serving as host.
