PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Freshman
Adam Whittier of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team will compete at the NCAA DIII Championships this weekend inside the Alliant Energy Power House in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Whittier punched his ticket to the championships by finishing third place at 149 pounds at the NCAA DIII Regional hosted by UW-Eau Claire two weeks ago. The freshman became the first Pioneer to advance to the national meet since 2023 after winning all three of his matches on the second day of the regional.
In his opening match on the bracket, Whittier (13-10) will face Jovanni Greco (32-8) of Ohio Northern. The winner advances to take on second-ranked Matt Randolph (25-2) of Augsburg, while the loser enters the wrestleback bracket.
Competition begins on Friday at 10 a.m. with the first two preliminary rounds and first consolation round.
