Adam Whittier and sophomore
Kain Killmer of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville wrestling team were recently recognized as National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) 2026 NCAA Division III Scholar All-Americans.
To qualify for this honor, student-athletes must meet both academic and athletic criteria. In the classroom, student-athletes must accomplish either a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or an average GPA of 3.2 over the last two semesters. On the mat, the award winners must either place top eight in the regional tournament or wrestle at least 15 matches and post a winning percentage greater than 66 percent.
Whitter, a mechanical engineering major, qualified for the NCAA DIII Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, after placing third at 149 pounds in the regional meet. The freshman became the first Pioneer since 2023 to qualify for the national meet and finished his first season with a 16-12 record.
Killmer, a construction management major, earned NWCA Scholar All-American honors for the second straight year. He finished sixth at the regional meet while wrestling at 197 pounds and led the Pioneers with 29 wins over the course of the season.
