PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – It is homecoming week for the University of Wisconsin-Platteville athletic teams, as the football team hosts UW-Eau Claire on Saturday at 1 p.m. for the Homecoming game. Men's soccer takes on the top ranked team at home on Tuesday, while volleyball hosts Yell Night on Wednesday. Women's soccer is at home this weekend with women's golf competing at the three-day WIAC Championships in Reedsburg.
Men's Soccer Hosts #1 St. Olaf Tuesday
After taking down UW-Stevens Point by a 3-2 score this past weekend, the Pioneers men's soccer team faces a tough test to begin the week at home against No. 1 St. Olaf. UW-Platteville then travels to UW-Eau Claire on Saturday for a 7 p.m. conference match.
The Oles improved to 11-0-0 overall the weekend and have outscored opponents 30-3 this season. Jack Soares leads the team with eight goals, while Ryan Bechtel has three goals and six assists.
The Blugolds began conference play with a scoreless draw at UW-River Falls this past weekend. UW-Eau Claire remains a strong offensive team led by Owen Backus' five goals this season, which ranks tied for second in the WIAC.
Volleyball Faces Carroll for Yell Night
Riding a five-match winning streak, the Pioneers volleyball team welcomes Carroll on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. for Yell Night. UW-Platteville then travels to UW-Stout Polytechnic on Saturday afternoon for a conference match.
Carroll improved to 11-7 on the season after sweeping Loras this past weekend for a third straight victory. Audrey Rosenbaum leads the attack with 3.13 kills per set, while Samantha Miserendino has a team-high 4.59 digs per set.
The Blue Devils dropped to 0-2 in conference and are 12-6 overall on the year. Brooke McCune paces the WIAC in kills per set at 4.13 on a .278 hitting percentage.
Women's Soccer Plays Two WIAC Games
The Pioneers women's soccer team will play a pair of conference contests this week, starting on the road at UW-Whitewater on Wednesday night. UW-Platteville then returns home to face UW-River Falls on Saturday at 6 p.m.
The Warhawks and Falcons posted a 1-1 draw this past weekend, leaving each team 0-0-1 in conference play entering the week. For UW-Whitewater, a strong offense led by Genevieve Simkowski averages 3.58 goals per game, while UW-River Falls have gotten strong goalkeeping from Courtney Bain.
Football Battles UW-Eau Claire in Homecoming Game
After opening conference play with a win over UW-Stout Polytechnic, the Pioneers football team returns home to face UW-Eau Claire on Saturday for the annual Homecoming game at 1 p.m.
The Blugolds are off to their best start since 2001 after beating UW-Stevens Point 31-9 to improve to 4-0. UW-Eau Claire's defense has been stout so far, allowing just 10.3 points per game, while the offense is led by Paxton Rothmeier, who leads the conference with 578 rushing yards.
Women's Golf Competes at WIAC Championships
The Pioneers women's golf team competes at the 2026 WIAC Championships this Friday through Sunday. The conference meet is hosted at the Reedsburg Country Club in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, with Friday's first round scheduled for 11 a.m. UW-Stout Polytechnic is looking for a second consecutive first-place finish.
