INDIANOLA, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-Platteville women's soccer team (5-1-0) used a pair of goals in the second half to beat Simpson College (3-2-1) by a score of 2-0 on Saturday morning from Bill Buxton Stadium.
After a scoreless first half, sophomore
Meghan Frantz scored her second goal of the season in the 66
th minute with an assist from freshman Raven Rodgers. Four minutes later, sophomore
Janelle Minor doubled the Pioneers lead on her first goal of the year and Rogers added the assist once again.
Simpson outshot the Pioneers 21-10 and 9-8 in shots on goal and also had a 7-0 advantage on corner kicks.
Minor paced the Pioneers with three shots, putting all three on goal. Frantz was next up, putting both her shots of the day on frame as well.
In goal, freshman
Sophia Vriesema had a total of nine saves to preserve the third shutout of the season.
UW-Platteville will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 17 when they travel to Central College for a 4:30 p.m. kick.
