KENOSHA, Wis. – The 13
th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Platteville Volleyball team (4-3) was swept by Carthage College (6-1) on Friday night inside Tarble Arena.
The Firebards capitalized on several multi-point runs to take the first set by a score of 25-16. UW-Platteville answered by taking a 6-5 lead in the second set after three consecutive service aces by senior
Kelsey Ewert. The Pioneers then went on a 9-0 run featuring five service aces by sophomore
Brooklyn Radecke, but Carthage rallied and went on to win the close battle 25-23.
Carthage looked to put the match away early in the third set, pulling ahead 12-7, and the Firebirds scored the final four points to win the set 25-16.
Radecke finished with a team-high 10 kills and five digs. Senior
Kierney McDonald finished with three blocks and eight kills while sophomore
Laura Boberg finished with 18 assists.
The Pioneers will return to action on Saturday for day two of the Carthage Invite when they take on Colorado College at 10 a.m. and Concordia Wisconsin at 2 p.m.
